MISSION STATEMENT

MISSION STATEMENT

Rwanda is one among countries of the Great Lakes Region of Africa. The region is known for its negative records of violent conflicts, negative armed groups and unprecedented violation of human rights. Corruption, bad governance, ethnic based discrimination have been serving as ingredients fuel violent conflicts for decades.

Furthermore, dues to above negative aspects in politics and communities, Rwanda has experienced genocide against Tutsi in 1994 in which over one million of people have been sauvagely slaughtered simply because of being Tutsi. In the aftermath of genocide against Tutsi in Rwanda, a number of mechanisms have been initiated to rebuild a more cohesive and inclusive society and to create a peaceful environment among communities. It is in this spirit that ICTP has come as non-partisan and non-government entity to give its contribution in educating conflict prevention and promoting peaceful neighborliness.

ICTP believes that its contribution in conflict prevention and peace building in Rwanda can serve as light of possible peace in other countries of the Africa’s Great Lakes Region and entire Africa at large.

In this era of globalization and media-house easy and rapid publication, many manipulated and transformed into tools of violence, ICTP aims to address this wave by cultivating a network of experts, scholars, peace practitioners and volunteers ready to provide constructive ideas, to initiate new peace perspectives and transform conflicting goals into competitive programs.
